CENTILLIUM MOVES INTO HOME NETWORKING MARKET

Centillium Technology Joins Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HPNA)

FREMONT, Calif., April 5, 1999 – Centillium Technology Corporation, a leader in Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) chipset solutions, today announced that it has joined the Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HomePNA), an industry group formed to develop specifications for interoperable, home-networked devices using the telephone wiring already in place. The move will allow Centillium to help shape the direction of home networking technologies, especially as they relate to Internet access technologies such as ADSL G.Lite (G.992.2).

Centillium joins many leading technology companies that are dedicated to delivering high-speed, affordable home networking solutions via telephone wires. According to Dataquest, more than 15 million homes in the U.S. have two or more PCs and analysts expect this number to double over the next two years. Nearly one in two home PCs access the Internet regularly according to Ziff-Davis Market Intelligence. Jupiter Communications projects that in addition to PCs, more than 15 million information appliance products will be purchased in the next five years. The need to share Internet access, digital information, and computing resources among PCs and other information appliances is expected to spark consumer demand for a home networking solution.
