Environmental Policy and RoHS Compliance

Our Commitment

TranSwitch Corporation is committed to protecting the environment through our environmentally friendly industry practices and compliance with governmental legislation worldwide. As a fabless semiconductor manufacturer, TranSwitch partners with industry suppliers, a critical part of our supply chain, who share in this commitment to protecting and preserving the environment.

RoHS Compliance

As part of our commitment to the environment and our compliance with government legislation, TranSwitch Corporation is progressively offering devices that are compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive defined by the European Union’s Directive 2002/95/EC. Devices that are compliant with the RoHS directive have the same electrical performance and functionality as devices soldered using conventional Lead processes.

TranSwitch’s RoHS compliant devices are also considered to be Green in the industry. TranSwitch defines Green as meeting the requirements of the RoHS directive for Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Byphenyls (PBB’s) and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE’s) and the removal of Halogens, Antimony (Sb) and secondary compounds from the device package

New products introduced into the market during and after 2005 are available in both conventional Lead and RoHS compliant packages. Questions regarding availability of product should be directed to your account representative.

RoHS Compliant Device Identification

TranSwitch will offer RoHS compliant devices while continuing to offer these same devices in conventional packages containing Lead. RoHS compliant devices are clearly marked with unique part numbers that identify them as being compliant, but also make them clearly recognizable for their device function and family. Package labels will identify RoHS compliance with the term “Lead-free” in accordance with JEDEC specifications. Additionally, RoHS compliant devices will be marked with their JEDEC defined alloy code for soldering purposes.
