infoRouter allows you to give other users various levels of permissions to your documents, or documents that you have Full Control over. The levels of document permissions available to you are No Access, Read, Change, & Full Control. When you upload a document into infoRouter, the document automatically inherits the permissions defined at the folder which you are uploading into. As the owner of the document, you may alter these default (inherited) rights. You may assign permissions to Users, User Groups and the Everyone group.
To assign permissions to a document, perform the following:
  1. Select the document you wish to assign permissions to by clicking on the checkbox next to the document.
  2. Click on the properties icon located in the Action column to open the document properties window.
  3. In the properties window, click on Security.
  4. In the Document Security window, select users from the first list.
  5. Make sure that you also select the appropriate access type from the drop down list box. The default is No Access.
  6. Click on Add.
  7. The selected users will be added to the security list with the permission level selected.

Notice that the access rights are cumulative. Each access level contains the rights of the one before it, and provides additional rights.
The No Access right is the same as not including a user in the access list. It is used in instances where a permission is given to a user group or the Everyone group and you wish to exclude a member of the group from the assigned security. Learn more about this issue in User Groups.
Note: Folder permissions take precedence over file permissions. If a user has "Full Control" over a folder, but you have given him "No Access" to a document contained in that folder, he will get an "Access Denied" message if he tries to view that document. However, because he has "Full Control" over the parent folder, he can modify permissions on any document in that folder. So in this case, the user could change the permissions on the restricted document and gain access.
